WHO KNEW ABOUT RELAXATION DAY?: The fans at Yankee Stadium had a lot of time to relax Wednesday night after a lengthy rain delay forced the game to begin at nearly 9 p.m. But that’s just the way Tommy Bahama likes it. The Seattle-based manufacturer is in the midst of a campaign to make National Relaxation Day on Aug. 15 a national holiday and sponsored Yankees beach mat night during the match-up between the Bronx Bombers and the Texas Rangers at the Stadium on Wednesday. Every fan who attended the game received a co-branded straw mat — perfect for lounging around with a rum punch.
Doug Wood, the company’s president, and Rob Goldberg, senior vice president of marketing, got a shout-out on the field for providing the gift to fans, and select Tommy Bahama guests were invited to relax and enjoy the game in a luxury box down the left field line.
