ART HOUSE: Whitewall magazine and Lisa Perry welcomed an arty crowd to the designer’s Sutton Place apartment for cocktails at sunset Monday to toast its art issue. Peter Marino, Catherine Malandrino, Rosie Assoulin, the artist Nir Hod and lensman Max Vadukul were in the crowd.
In addition to the art by Andy Warhol, Victor Vaserely, Roy Lichtenstein, Robert Indiana and Tom Wesselmann, Monday's guests got to see a few of Perry's more recent acquisitions — "Diamond," an outdoor giant green sculpture by Jeff Koons, and a bright orange piece by Cesar Baldaccini and a Leo Villareal-designed lighting piece in the guest bathroom.
During a guided tour with Perry, Marino told Perry how Warhol gave him a $1,500 check to start his business. The Pop Art artist suggested Marino not cash the check, because Warhol would be famous one day. But Marino had to cash it, because he needed to the money.
Barneys New York was well-represented by the trio of Mark Lee, Daniella Vitale and Dennis Freedman. Perry’s husband Richard owns the retailer.
