Walpole Welcomes Eight New Brands Into Its Fold

The British luxury trade body chose the brands based on potential to become global luxury leaders.

LONDON — Eight up-and-coming British brands have been selected by Walpole, the British luxury trade body, to become Brands of Tomorrow. Selected for their potential for global growth in the luxury sector, the winners included Olivia von Halle, maker of opulent nightwear; Imran Amed, the founder-editor of The Business of Fashion; Jane Lewis and Kalpa Shah of Goat, a womenswear brand specializing in cashmere and worn by the Duchess of Cambridge; Menswear label Private White V.C. and Rachel Galley for her jewelry collection.

Other winners included an online marketplace for private jets, a furniture brand specializing in high-end nursery pieces; and a chocolatier.

All of the winners will receive mentoring from industry experts and coaching to grow their businesses.

“I’m so excited about this because I am good at the ideas and the marketing side of things, but I’m dreadful at the money side; cash flow projections? No idea,” said von Halle. “Since WWD wrote about us in December, we have been so busy. I’m in talks with luxury hotel groups and airlines, and we have some exciting things coming up, so to have guidance on the other side as we grow is so great.”

Previous recipients of Walpole’s mentoring program, now in its seventh year, have included Astley Clarke, Shaun Leane, Bremont, Charlotte Olympia and Orlebar Brown.
