Louis Vuitton Foundation Clears Hurdle

Paris court declares legality of construction permit on art museum.

IF YOU BUILD IT, THEY WILL?: The Louis Vuitton Foundation for Creation — currently under construction on the leafy outskirts of Paris — overcame yet another legal obstacle, moving it a step closer to a targeted opening in 2014. A Paris administrative court of appeals this week overturned a 2011 decision by a tribunal that had suspended the construction permit at the behest of the Coordination pour la sauvegarde du Bois de Boulogne organization (or Coordination for the protection of the Bois de Boulogne organization). The court validated the permit as legal. First unveiled in 2006, the Frank Gehry-designed museum project has run into several administrative snags, setting back its opening date several times.

Capped with a glass roof resembling a cloud, the building is to showcase LVMH Moët Hennessy Louis Vuitton’s vast corporate art collection, plus temporary exhibitions.
