SHOPPERS’ DELIGHT: Shoppers braved the rain for the fifth annual edition of Vogue’s Fashion Night Out in Paris on Tuesday. Stores including Dior, Chanel, Lanvin, Michael Kors, Ralph Lauren, Givenchy and Tom Ford held cocktails in the area stretching from the Rue du Faubourg Saint-Honoré to Palais-Royal.
The tony shopping district took on the air of a street carnival as crowds lined up in front of the Manoush store, where a red truck dispensed candy floss, popcorn and mini cupcakes. Other brandished white roses that guaranteed entry to an event held by Chloé to celebrate its Baylee handbag.
The Colette store was a hive of activity, as Purple Fashion editor Olivier Zahm set up a temporary photo studio on the top floor, while singer Theophilus London greeted fans in front of a rack displaying his bomber jacket for Paris label Surface to Air. On the first floor, The Illustrated Nail provided free manicures for every purchase of nail jewelry by fledgling London brand H&H.
Queues also formed in front of the Polish church on Rue Saint-Honoré, where tents housed L’Oréal hair and makeup bars and an Yves Saint Laurent makeup station. In front of the Chantal Thomass lingerie store, guests slipped into a customized pink London taxi for an express makover, courtesy of hair bar 365c.
Although barely any designers or celebrities showed up, attendees jumped at the chance to pose for commemorative snapshots.
In the Galerie Royale shopping arcade, partygoers waited for a chance to compete for “The Best GIF Look” in a Google-sponsored booth. This, and other live coverage of the event, was streamed on a temporary Web site, fashionsnightout.vogue.fr/, set up by Vogue Paris in partnership with Orange and Instagram.
