VISITING HOURS: The scene Thursday morning at the open house for the CFDA’s Fashion Incubator felt a little like a cross between parents weekend and show and tell. The 10 new incubatees — many of whom had been operating out of their apartments — have moved into the subsidized studios at 209 West 38th Street in New York, which have been decorated according to their personal taste. Steven Kolb, Linda Fargo and various editors made the rounds, along with some of the program’s mentors, including Gary Wassner from Hilldun Corp. and Douglas Hand from HBA.

The designers have had about a month to get used to their neighbors, and most admitted there was a collegiate air to the set up. “There’s all these rules, but it’s kind of bringing us all together,” said Marc Daniels of Isaora. As his partner Ricky Hendry pointed out, it’s worth it. “If we invited people to come to our studio on our own, who knows what would happen, said Hendry. “If the CFDA hosts an event, everyone shows up.”
