VINCE IN THE NEWS: Although rumors have been swirling that Vince could be a contender for an initial public offering, Jill Granoff, chief executive officer of Kellwood Co., which owns the brand, was mum at the Vince party Wednesday night to celebrate its new boutique at 980 Madison Avenue, which has gotten off to a fast start.
Bloggers, editors, celebrities, photographers and models gathered for dinner at the Vince store, which was elegantly arranged with a huge dinner table running down the middle. Christopher LaPolice, cofounder and president of Vince, was unfortunately a no-show because he had flown into New York from Los Angeles during the wee hours of the morning and, after back-to-back meetings and appointments, was feeling under the weather. Olivia Palermo, Victor Demarchelier, Mercedes Masöhn, Maggie Betts and Genevieve Jones were among those who attended.
Vince, which does $250 million in sales, is having a busy season. After unveiling an expanded department at Saks Fifth Avenue in New York last month (it’s Saks’ biggest contemporary resource), the company is getting ready to open its 21st freestanding store at The Grove in L.A. right before Thanksgiving.
