Vilcek Foundation to Award Art Grants

The foundation will be shining a light on fashion through the 2015 Vilcek Prizes for Creative Promise in the Arts.

WISHES GRANTED: For the first time, the New York-based Vilcek Foundation will be shining a light on fashion through the 2015 Vilcek Prizes for Creative Promise in the Arts. There will be three $50,000 grants for foreign-born designers, stylists, photographers, curators and fashion writers. Candidates must be 38 years old or younger, and they include individuals who were born outside the U.S. but who have Green Cards or are naturalized U.S. citizens. Applications will be accepted through June 10.

Established in 2000 by Jan and Marica Vilcek, the foundation’s mission is to honor the contributions of foreign-born scholars and artists living in the U.S. After immigrating from the former Czechoslovakia, Jan and Marica Vilcek pursued careers in biomedical science and art history, respectively. They established their namesake foundation in part to show their appreciation for the opportunities they received as newcomers to America.
