Victoire de Taillac Launches Corpus Magazine

A party for the bi-annual glossy consecrated to the beauty of the body and spirit was celebrated Wednesday at a party at Paris' Colette.

MAKING SCENTS OF COLOR: Victoire de Taillac’s party Wednesday evening at Paris’ Colette had a color-fragrance theme, in keeping with that of Corpus, her new bi-annual glossy magazine consecrated to the beauty of the body and spirit.

 

The first edition, with 160 pages, is entitled Synesthesia and includes articles (in English and in French) on subjects such as the color-word connection, the color-mind link and an interview with Venezuelan artist Carlos Cruz-Diez. Contributors to the independent publication — which costs 20 euros, or $26.25 at current exchange, in France and 18 pounds, or $27.85, in the U.K and is distributed in 20 countries — count among them sociologists, historians and philosophers.

 

The magazine was produced with IFF, Corpus’ partner for the first year. The fragrance and flavors supplier worked with the publication to conceive an associated booklet, Colodorama, which explains 11 of its perfumers’ olfactive creations linked to a particular color.

 

Dominique Ropion chose to work with light blue, whose juice involves cashmeran and veramoss notes.

 

“It’s my favorite color,” he said.

 

Anne Flipo, meanwhile, conceived a light-brown fragrance, including notes of clary sage, indole, black pepper, cinnamon and patchouli.

 

“I saw the brown color as ‘old gold,’” she said. “I tried to work on a very chic fragrance.”

 

So what’s Corpus editor in chief’s preferred color?

 

“I have plenty of favorite colors,” exclaimed de Taillac, adding with a laugh that she has a soft spot for “hot pink.”

 

The next edition of Corpus is due out in November.
