LIGHT SHOW: Milan’s via della Spiga is gearing up to celebrate the upcoming Design Week with “Tree of Light,” an installation created by event planner Beatrice Mosca and promoted by the Via della Spiga Association and the city’s municipality. In particular, the street, which currently counts 73 high-end stores, will be decorated with more than 30 tree-shaped LED lamps featuring inflatable and luminous foliage. The same lamps also appeared in “The Great Beauty,” which won an Oscar for best foreign language film at the Academy Awards last month. “It’s a great honor to bring our trees to Via della Spiga,” said Tomaso Schiaffino, art director and co-founder of Bellaria Design, the Milanese company designing and producing the light trees. “We hope they will recreate the same, unique and magic atmosphere of the movie.”
“Tree of Light,” which will be unveiled on Monday, is part of “Expo puts down roots in the city,” a project aiming to place the Bellaria Design trees in different locations throughout Milan before the universal exposition next year and to switch them with real trees when the event is over.
