VERA’S CROSSROADS: Vera Wang, a designer whose name is synonymous with all things weddings, has separated from her husband, Arthur Becker.

Wang declined to comment Tuesday, but her company’s president, Mario Grauso, issued the following statement, “Vera Wang and Arthur Becker have mutually and amicably agreed to separate. They remain devoted parents to their two daughters.”

The designer and Becker, who wed at The Pierre hotel in 1989, have two daughters, Cecilia and Josephine. At the time of their wedding, Wang was design director for Ralph Lauren women’s accessories and at-home wear, and he was a stockbroker at Bear Stearns & Co. The following year, Wang ventured out on her own, opening a signature salon in The Carlyle hotel.

Becker is known to have advised Wang closely as her business developed from an Upper East Side one-stop bridal shop into a global multimillion-dollar brand with a litany of licensed products. While Becker has always had other business pursuits — in 2010 he resigned as chief executive officer of NaviSite — he has also become more involved with the day-to-day operations at Vera Wang in recent years. Becker did not respond to calls at press time.

Becker is said to have been a big proponent of Wang pursuing the mass side of the business. That said, the company is said to operate with two camps —Wang’s and Becker’s. How that will play out in light of their matrimonial struggle remains to be seen.

A friend of the designer’s who asked not to be identified, said, “They will not let this impact the running of the company. They have worked too hard to build it up.”
