Valentino Bets Big on Las Vegas

The brand has opened two stores in the city: an accessories-only location in The Forum Shops at Caesar’s and a second location in The Shops at Crystals.

V FOR VEGAS: Valentino is betting big on Las Vegas. The brand has opened two stores in the city: a 750-square-foot accessories-only location in The Forum Shops at Caesar’s — the first of its kind in the U.S. and the second worldwide — and a 3,000-square-foot location in The Shops at Crystals with Valentino’s full merchandise repertoire. British architect David Chipperfield designed the concept behind the stores, which has also been employed in Valentino’s New York and Beverly Hills stores, along with Valentino creative directors Maria Grazia Chiuri and Pierpaolo Piccioli. Both stores feature a series of rooms connected by Venetian terrazzo framing the walls, floors and various openings. Other design elements include black-and-white window pane flooring, molded gypsum curtains, layered mirror glass walls, leather furniture and carbon fiber poles. There are 11 Valentino stores in the U.S. and 115 globally. In May of this year, Valentino chief executive officer Stefano Sassi told WWD that sales at the brand’s stores had climbed 40 percent. The retail sales increase, driven particularly by bags and shoes, has heightened Valentino’s interest in more stores. Later this year, the brand is set to open units in Aspen and San Francisco, where Valentino customers will access its men’s collection through a separate entrance.
