FOR ART’S SAKE: Unibail-Rodamco announced on Tuesday it is partnering with fellow French property developer Socri on an open-air shopping center on the French Riviera that aims to bring together art and shopping. With an estimated cost of 350 million euros, or $462 million, the Polygone Riviera complex is set to open in the fall of 2015 in Cagnes-sur-Mer, on the outskirts of Nice. It is being developed by Spanish architecture firm L35 and will feature Mediterranean gardens designed by landscape artist Jean Mus. “Sacha Sosno, a famous visual artist from the region, will select and display original art from renowned artists in order to give visitors a unique experience with fashion and contemporary art,” Unibail-Rodamco stated. Polygone Riviera will boast more than 800,000 square feet of stores, restaurants and cultural venues, including a branch of department store chain Printemps.
