HONG KONG CALLING: Topshop will open its first store in China on June 6, but not before the brand’s special Fashion Truck rolls into town, giving away free treats, lucky gift cards, and the store’s own magazine. On the day itself, there will be a series of activities planned including live music, giveaways, and appearances by special guests before Sir Philip Green cuts the ribbon at 5 p.m. The launch celebration will continue over the opening weekend in store, the company said Wednesday.
The 14,000 square feet Hong Kong flagship is located in Queen’s Road Central and will stock Unique, the Topshop collection that shows during London Fashion Week; Boutique, the brand’s premium, limited-edition line; the store’s designer collaborations; and the mainline collections, in addition to Leigh Jeans and Topshop Makeup. There will also be items exclusive to the store, such as collectible T-shirts and beanie hats.
The new Topshop unit will be managed by LAB Concept, the contemporary retail management arm of Lane Crawford. LAB operates a 64,000 square feet mall under the banner of LAB Concept in Hong Kong’s Queensway Plaza, and also works in partnership to manage the operations of businesses such as Topshop.
