NEW DEAL: Tommy Hilfiger and Safilo are in it for the long haul — at least through 2020. The Italian eyewear manufacturer and designer have decided to renew their global eyewear licensing agreement for the exclusive design, development, production and distribution of Tommy Hilfiger ophthalmic and sunglass collections. The new deal will run until December 31, 2020, with an optional five-year extension thereafter.
The licensing agreement was first established in Fall 2010. Over the next five years, the companies will focus on expanding distribution in Asia and Latin America, citing them as key markets for expansion and category growth.
Safilo’s portfolio of licensed brands also includes Dior, Fendi, Alexander McQueen, Marc Jacobs, Celine and Bottega Veneta, among others.
