Tokyo Gears Up for Fashion's Night Out

International Vogue editors and a host of designers set to attend.

TOKYO BOUND: A bevy of designers and fashion editors are descending on Tokyo this week for a special edition of Fashion’s Night Out, which will take place Saturday. Vogue’s top editors from around the world, including Anna Wintour, Franca Sozzani, Emmanuelle Alt and Alexandra Shulman, are all making their way to the city. The designer roster includes Michael Kors and Roberto Cavalli, both of whom are feting new shops here, as well as Thom Browne and Tod’s creative head Derek Lam. Burberry creative director Christopher Bailey and Rag & Bone’s David Neville and Marcus Wainwright are also expected to attend the festivities.

The proceedings kick off Friday with Vogue’s opening cocktail and gala dinner. The next day, designers will mingle with shoppers at a slew of events. Kors will hold court at his Omotesando store with actress and singer Jennifer Hudson and launch a limited edition accessories collection to benefit the quake-relief effort. Later that night, he will host a private party at the U.S. ambassador’s residence, an affair the house is attempting to distance from FNO.

Both the Tod’s and Louis Vuitton boutiques are hosting special exhibitions of photography and are expected to snag visits from top editors. Cavalli, who is hosting a party Tuesday night for his new store, is using FNO to give shoppers a preview of the house’s upcoming fragrance.

Browne is going to make a special appearance at Comme des Garçons’ 10 Corso Como store. According to his spokeswoman, the designer has made some special pieces for the occasion, including some plaid shirts with a “CdG” element.
