A DRY HEAT: Tinie Tempah may have a string of hits to his name — “Pass Out” and “Drinking From the Bottle” to name just two — but in the fields of Cowdray Park, West Sussex, England, he had a different career going. During the Veuve Clicquot Gold Cup on Sunday, he played his first DJ set for a crowd of luxury picnickers. Tracks from Drake and Macklemore were among his playlist.
It was a family affair for the star, whose mother Rosemary and father Patrick were among the guests for lunch inside Veuve’s VIP marquee, which had a romantic canopy of orange roses suspended above the diners’ heads.
Other guests included Alexa Chung, Jodie Kidd, Caroline Sieber, Middle Eastern Princesses Gabriella and Isabel with their father HH Prince Rashid, Martha Ward, Ella Catliff, Patrick Grant, Katie Hillier, Azealia Banks, Nicholas Kirkwood, Christopher Kane and Roksanda Ilincic.
Kane was on the hunt for an orange Veuve Clicquot fan. “I’m boiling,” he said. “It’s steaming hot and I’m Scottish — my blood wasn’t made for this heat.”
Grant didn’t touch a drop of Champagne all day. “I’ve signed up to ride from London to Newcastle [for a cycling fund-raiser] so I’m in training — and drinking doesn’t help that at all,” he said.
After Dubai was declared the winner of the match, Tempah hit the decks again and got the crowd dancing in the late afternoon sun.
Tempah is collaborating with the Champagne brand this summer on the Veuve Clicquot Airstream Tour: A Fifties-style Airstream, which is doing a tour of U.K. events including the Goodwood Festival of Speed and Festival No. 6 in September.
