Thom Widdett and Luke Sweeney are branching outfrom bespoke, and launching their first rtw collection for spring. The duo, who worked at Timothy Everest before launching their bespoke tailored line in 2007, showed a selection of their spring rtw at their small, Dickensian shop in Mayfair, where they make their bespoke suits. The rtw offer includes blue checked seersucker jackets, and lightweight wool and silk ones made from Loro Piana fabrics in shades of cinnamon, teal, and denim blue. There are also lightweight, double-breasted pinstripe suits — worn with or without a waistcoat. They’ve also worked with vintage fabrics from the Carlo Barbera mill in Italy for a series of two-button suits. Thom Sweeney is known for its fusion of classic English and Italian tailoring: High armholes, natural shoulders and curving waists, and the duo said the aesthetic would carry over into the rtw collection, which also includes shirts and ties.
