Thecorner.com to Debut Short Film From Stefano Accorsi

Produced by Yoox Group, the mini film is inspired by a true story that a florist told the Italian actor a few years ago.

FILM ROLL: On Friday, thecorner.com, the luxury e-tailer under the Yoox Grup umbrella, is unveiling “Io non ti conosco” [“I don’t know you,” in English], a short movie directed by Italian actor Stefano Accorsi, at his debut in the role of director. Produced by Yoox Group, the mini film is inspired by a true story that a florist told Accorsi a few years ago. The cast includes Accorsi himself, along with Vittoria Puccini and Gianfelice Imparato.

“I thought of Stefano Accorsi for his versatile talent, making it possible for him to commence his directorial debut and for Yoox Group to experiment in the role of producer to entertain and fascinate the customers of thecorner.com,” said Yoox Group founder and chief executive officer Federico Marchetti.

“When they asked me to direct a short film for the online boutique, I accepted without hesitation. To incorporate my acting career in a new dimension of directing is extremely stimulating, not only because first experiences are always instinctive,” Accorsi said. “Thanks to a real insider such as thecorner.com, I can explore the Internet world while introducing the online boutique to the circuit of cinema.”

Starting Friday, all the pieces worn by the actors in the movie will be available for purchase on thecorner.com. On Thursday night, Yoox Group will give a preview of the film during an event at Rome’s MAXXI - National Museum of the 21st Century Arts.

“Io non ti conosco” is not the fist incursion of thecorner.com in the film business. Previously, a number of artists, including Nick Knight, Hedi Slimane and Chinese Wing Shya, created short movies for the Italian e-tailer.
