The Scene: Costume Designers Guild Awards

The Beverly Hilton buzzed Tuesday night at the 13th annual Costume Designers Guild Awards.

COSTUME PARTY: The Beverly Hilton buzzed Tuesday night at the 13th annual Costume Designers Guild Awards, where hostess Kristen Davis, in a polka dot Oscar de la Renta gown, opened the event by admitting, "I have had more in-depth conversations with my costume designer than I have had with my director." Billy Bob Thornton joined Ashton Kutcher, Demi Moore, Diane Lane, and Robert Duvall in presenting sponsor Di Saronno’s Career Achievement Award to Julie Weiss. Moore said that Weiss, “with talent, friendliness, and dogged persuasion, gets everything she wants." Samuel L. Jackson presented the Lacoste Spotlight Award to Halle Berry, who called costume designers "magicians." Distinguished Collaborator Award winner Joel Schumacher, who was honored for his 30 year career in film, said, "Where would Marilyn be without the white dress? Where would Tom Cruise be without his tighty whities?"
