THE RAIN AND SPAIN: On Tuesday night, the unfavorable weather didn’t stop fashion folks from trekking to the Queen Sofía Spanish Institute, which had invited Council of Fashion Designers of America members to a private viewing of its “Balenciaga: Spanish Master” exhibit. Tory Burch, Diane von Furstenberg, Nicole Miller, Nanette Lepore and Alejandro Ingelmo were among the 40 or so CFDA members who toured the space before sitting down for a private lecture by Hamish Bowles, who co-hosted the event with Oscar de la Renta. “It is perfection, and very informative,” Francisco Costa said. Lepore also found Balenciaga’s designs inspiring, though it’s unlikely she will take cues from the show for her show next month. “It might be a little too late now,” she said.
Bowles, for his part, had spent New Year’s Eve in South Anjuna and decided on the spot to shave off the moustache he had been sporting for the past year. “I think Oscar will be delighted,” he said.
