The House of Britannia Links With Thresher & Glenny

The companies have formed a joint venture for a range of women’s business shirts to be designed by Elizabeth Emanuel.

STRICTLY BUSINESS: The House of Britannia, a new investment and management company that aims to support and promote British luxury heritage brands, has formed a joint venture with Thresher & Glenny for a range of women’s business shirts to be designed by Elizabeth Emanuel.

Thresher & Glenny is an official shirt supplier to Queen Elizabeth, and has supplied British royals since 1783. Emanuel is the designer who created the late Princess Diana’s wedding dress with her ex-husband David.

Simon Petherick, managing director of The House of Britannia, said there is a gap in the North American and European markets for a range of premium business shirts for women.

Petherick’s company will take a 51 percent stake in the new venture while Thresher & Glenny will hold the remainder of the shares. The line will launch in North America and Europe next spring online and in department stores.

Last month, The House of Britannia took a majority stake in Cornelia James Ltd., Royal Warrant holders to Queen Elizabeth for gloves with the goal of transforming it into an internationally recognized luxury brand.
