ALL THAT GLITTERS: For the May 8 opening night party of its first U.S. store, The Gem Palace will freshen up its image. Established in 1852 in Jaipur, the family-owned company is naming the new uptown outpost Sanjay Kasliwal The Gem Palace — in honor of its creative director, an eighth-generation descendant of the founding family.

In addition to Sanjay Kasliwal’s glittering collections, the 300-square-foot boutique at 971 Madison Avenue will have displays highlighting the brand’s origins, which dates back to India’s great kings and European royals. Nicole Kidman and Mick Jagger are among The Gem Palace’s in-the-know fans.
