A spokeswoman for the festival’s organizers declined to comment, saying the composition of the jury will be revealed at a later date.

TAPIS ROUGE: Designers lamenting the dearth of leading ladies among the films in competition at next month’s Cannes Film Festival can breathe a sigh of relief: Rumor has it Australian actress Nicole Kidman will be joining the jury, which will be presided over by Steven Spielberg. A spokeswoman for the festival’s organizers declined to comment, saying the composition of the jury will be revealed at a later date.

The lineup of films competing for the coveted Palme d’Or award features strong male-led casts, with Robert Redford, Benicio Del Toro, Michael Douglas and Matt Damon among those competing for “best actor” honors.
