TAILOR MADE: Gieves & Hawkes, the iconic Savile Row tailor whose high-profile client list includes Prince William and David Beckham, has tapped former Brioni artistic director Jason Basmajian as creative director, according to industry sources. The appointment is due to be announced in the coming weeks.
Gieves & Hawkes, which since 1912 has been headquartered at a white columned mansion at No. 1 Savile Row and traces its roots to 1771, last April was acquired by Trinity Ltd., its long-term licensee in greater China. Trinity, which is part of the Li & Fung Group, operates more than 100 Gieves & Hawkes stores in the region. Gieves & Hawkes holds three Royal Warrants and also creates ceremonial uniforms for the British military.
