The Swarovski exhibition touring Asia

ON TOUR: Swarovski is making its way through Asia with a private exhibition showcasing its past collaborations with designers and artists such as Mary Katrantzou, Tord Boontje, Philip Treacy and Yoko Ono.

The crystal producer is looking to attract new designer collaborators within Asia. The company recently teamed up with Hong Kong-based jewelry designer Jessica Fong to create six nature-inspired jewelry pieces and it would like to take on more designers from the region. The exhibition recently made stops in Beijing and Hong Kong and is heading for Singapore.

"The Asian design literati is a growing community that has inspiration and cutting-edge designs that are driving trends, and we hope to build long-lasting partnerships as we have done in the Western hemisphere," Nadja Swarovski, head of communications and design services for Swarovski's crystal business, said in a release.

The exhibit features a wide range of items including a "blossom" lighting fixture designed by Boontje, and a large decorative piece resembling an eye by Fredrikson Stallard. There are also glistening evening gowns by Erdem, Mary Katrantzou and Marios Schwab.

The exhibit also showcases a selection of jewelry from the Atelier Swarovski spring summer collection. There are pieces by Nicholas Kirkwood, Stefano Poletti, and a collection honoring Diana Vreeland.

Swarovski is also touring its Runway Rocks exhibit, which features specially designed catwalk jewelry pieces, around the world to London, Paris, Mumbai, Moscow and Tokyo in the past. A spokeswoman said the company may bring it to Shanghai and Korea next year.

Swarovski is no stranger to Asia with approximately 600 stores in the region out of a total of over 2,000 worldwide.
