SURPRISE PACKAGE: Sunday night’s Goyas, Spain’s answer to the Oscars, was full of surprises. Penélope Cruz, wearing a strapless vintage Versace the color of heavy cream, lost out to Lola Dueñas, in a gauzy black gown by Alberta Ferreti, who won the best actress award for “Yo Tambien.” Up for her role in “Broken Embraces,” (her fourth film with Pedro Almodóvar) Cruz arrived solo, but she sat with current squeeze Javier Bardem. But the best was saved for last. Almodóvar, a no-show for years due to a highly publicized feud with the Spanish Film Academy, took everyone by surprise when he bounded on stage to present the best picture award to “Celda 211.” The prison drama was the night’s big winner, receiving a total of 8 Goyas. Almodóvar credited ccademy president Alex de La Iglesia (another acclaimed director here) for the reconciliation. Other “green carpet” personalities included actresses Goya Toledo in a black beaded gown by Elie Saab; Paz Vega wearing a dramatic architectural number by Hannibal Laguna; Maribel Verdu in Nina Ricci; and Blanca Romero, ex-wife of bullfighter and Loewe ad face Cayetano, in a white blouse and long black skirt by Carolina Herrera.
