She has a host of movies out this year, including “London Boulevard” with Colin Farrell, plus a turn as Cordelia in “King Lear.” While not an Oscar nominee herself, Michael O’Connor, who crafted the dresses Knightley wore in the costume drama “The Duchess,” is up for one.

Anna Mouglalis, meanwhile, has been embodying Coco Chanel for the last four months in the Jan Kounen-directed biopic based mainly on Chanel’s love affair with Igor Stravinsky in the Twenties. Mouglalis said Karl Lagerfeld loaned her some pieces, including a cape, a dress with oriental embroidery and Coromandel screens. Film locations so far have included a villa in the South of France plus the Coco Chanel suite at the Ritz that was filled with objects from her apartment.

Marianne Faithfull is to don Chanel pieces for the upcoming tour for her new album. “Karl made me a really beautiful long leather skirt and amazing blouses,” said the singer, whose U.S. dates start in March.
