Spiegel Promotes Richard Lowe

As international creative director, he will oversee the design and creative direction of the Spiegel Collection, Newport News and Shape FX women’s brands.

SPIEGEL TAPS LOWE: After a bankruptcy in 2003, ownership changes and overshadowing Internet competition, Spiegel wants back on everyone’s fashion radar and has promoted Richard Lowe 3rd to international creative director to help restore the image. Lowe will oversee the design and creative direction of the in-house Spiegel Collection, Newport News and Shape FX women’s brands, as well as all online development, merchandising and R&D. Lowe joined Spiegel last summer as creative director.

“I believe that Richard will truly bring the Spiegel family of apparel back to the forefront in the hearts and minds of American women,” said Lynn Tilton, founder and chief executive officer of Patriarch Partners LLC, a New York-based investment firm and holding company that owns Spiegel.

Lowe, 28, has had design stints at Balmain, Nicole Miller, Rebecca Minkoff, Juicy Couture, Brooks Brothers and Macy’s; has managed fashion shows for Oscar de la Renta, Donna Karan, Calvin Klein and Rosa Cha.
