Sofia Coppola's New Film... Samantha Cameron's New Addition... Fast Fashion

Sofia Coppola unveils her new film, “Somewhere,” on Sept. 3 during the Venice Film Festival — and Louis Vuitton will be on hand.

LOST SOMEWHERE: Sofia Coppola unveils her new film, “Somewhere,” on Sept. 3 during the Venice Film Festival — and Louis Vuitton will be on hand. Word has it Antoine Arnault, communications director at the French luxury giant, will host a party for Coppola after the screening. The guest list will certainly include the film’s stars, Elle Fanning and Stephen Dorff.

Meanwhile, Coppola, who continues to collaborate with Vuitton on a small line of handbags and shoes, has added several new colors for fall — and a newly sized day bag — that are expected in stores in October.

CAMERON’S NEW ADDITION: Samantha Cameron, British Prime Minister David Cameron’s wife and a creative consultant at Smythson in London, gave birth to her fourth child, a girl, on Tuesday. The baby, who weighed 6 pounds, 1 ounce, was born in Truro, Cornwall, an area on England’s southwest coast where the Camerons are on vacation. The Camerons have two older children, Nancy, six, and Arthur, four. Their eldest child, Ivan, died last year at the age of six, having suffered from cerebral palsy and epilepsy. “She is an unbelievably beautiful girl and I’m a very proud dad,” the prime minister told BBC television. The Downing Street spokesman said that, as of late Tuesday, the Camerons hadn’t decided on a name for the baby.

FAST FASHION: Jamaican sprinter Usain Bolt is not only the fastest runner on earth but also one of the most well heeled. Puma said Tuesday that it renewed its sponsorship agreement with Bolt through the end of 2013, declining to disclose terms but describing the remuneration figure as “by far the largest” ever given to a track-and-field athlete. Puma not only outfits Bolt; he will play a pivotal role in its marketing campaigns, including its plan for London’s 2012 Olympic Games. Bolt also collaborates with Puma on a signature collection of clothes, shoes and accessories.

UNLUCKY STRIKE: A bicycle may prove the smartest mode of transportation for Parisians planning to attend Fashion’s Night Out in the French capital on Sept. 7. Seven unions have called for a day of massive strikes and demonstrations across France on that day, as a show of protest against proposed government reforms to the national pension system. Major travel disruptions are expected, though a spokesman for the Unitary Union Federation (FSU) said the Paris protests would likely take place away from tony Avenue Montaigne, where FNO will be centered. Demonstrators will are expected gather on the city’s Left Bank, around the Montparnasse district.

EXPRESS YOURSELF: Calling all dancers. Madonna wants to see your moves at the Sept. 22 launch party for her Material Girl line at Macy’s Herald Square. Auditions will be held Thursday at Broadway Dance Center in New York, where the first 150 dancers will be able to audition for the opportunity to perform at the Macy’s event, which will be hosted by Madonna, daughter Lourdes Leon and Material Girl spokesmodel Taylor Momsen. The auditions will be judged by one of Madonna’s lead dancers, Leroy “Hypnosis” Barnes; Material Girl’s chief marketing officer, Dari Marder, and Macy’s fashion director, Adam Moon, who will choose 20 semifinalists. Madonna herself will then select the 10 winners. Dancers outside the New York area can audition by uploading a video clip through Sept. 3 to Youtube.com/materialgirlcol. Finalists will be flown to New York and put up in hotels by Macy’s and Material Girl.
