BALL GOWNS: Soccer and starlets are a match made in photo-op heaven. At least for Guido Maria Kretschmer, Germany’s No. 1 corporate fashion design source. He’s done uniforms for Deutsche Telekom, Kempinski Hotels, Maritim Hotels, Montblanc and Emirates Airlines, and his eponymous couture label caters to the red carpet needs of the nation’s acting and VIP set.

His latest corporate project — a capsule collection for Puma and German national soccer championship team, Borussia Dortmund (BVB) — opened his Berlin fashion show with a bevy of soccer balls. He scored points (and lots of laughs) with imaginative headdresses, evening gowns dotted with tufted soccer balls, and a Puma cut bodice on a princess gown. Indeed, the team’s colors of yellow and black couldn’t be better for the active sportswear brand. Standouts included Kretschmer’s men’s yellow and black sport tuxedo with an athletic striped collar and women’s yellow swimsuit with a black puma leaping through the plunging neckline.
