SLIPPERY MOMENTS: Fashion can be treacherous, but the Italian, famed red-head fashion writer Giusi Ferrè is lending a helping hand. On Wednesday evening, Ferré presented her book, titled “Buccia di banana,” at Milan’s Gucci flagship store on Via Montenapoleone, packed with plenty of fashion types and PRs. The title translates as “Banana peel,” and the author’s aim is to help readers avoid slipping on fashion faux pas and help direct women in the tangled fashion jungle.

Edited by Rizzoli, the book is a sort of fashion dictionary featuring 65 entries, from “Animal print” to “Zaino” (backpack in English.) In line with Ferrè’s column in the weekly magazine Io Donna, the book’s style is ironic, fun and never pedantic. The journalist mixed notions on the history of fashion design with practical suggestions and some gossip.

During the event, Ferrè, who is not related to the late Gianfranco Ferré and who also hosts a TV program focused on helping women to find a new look, asked the stylists who usually work with her, including the Murr duo, to create new outfits for two casually selected women among those attending the book launch.

“Sometimes, I’m moved when I see these women rediscover the joy of playing with fashion and find themselves beautiful,” Ferré said. “In particular, what strikes me, and I think all the people working in the industry, is that fashion is still a dream for some people.”
