SHIPSHAPE FOR JEFFREY: The 10th annual Jeffrey Fashion Cares benefit in New York raised more than $800,000 on Tuesday aboard the Intrepid museum. Cyndi Lauper presented choreographer Jerry Mitchell with the Community Leadership Award, praising his longtime involvement with Broadway Cares/Equity Fights AIDS. Lauper wrote the music for “Kinky Boots,” the Broadway show Mitchell is currently directing.
Emmy Rossum served as the evening’s host, noting that she’s been actively involved with the nonprofit YouthAIDS. “This is a cause close to my heart. And you get to see a lot of cute boys, so why not?” said the “Shameless” star. A men’s fashion show accentuated that sentiment, with 40 models, including Cory Bond, Chad White, Marlon Teixeira and Clint Mauro walking the runway in designs from Gucci, Lanvin, Burberry and Givenchy, among others. In the front row were Chrissy Teigen, Ireland Baldwin, Thakoon Panichgul, Veronica Webb, Hannah Bronfman and Miss Universe Olivia Culpo.
“My mind is already on next year,” said Jeffrey Kalinsky, founder of the Jeffrey boutiques in New York and Atlanta and executive vice president of designer merchandising at Nordstrom. The funds raised are distributed to the AIDS Community Research Initiative of America, Point Foundation, Hetrick-Martin Institute and Lambda Legal.
