SELFRIDGES ROBBERS SENTENCED: Six men found guilty of committing a smash-and-grab robbery at Selfridges in London in June 2013 were sentenced Monday to more than 50 years in prison collectively. Watches worth 1.5 million pounds, or $2.5 million, were stolen during the raid, when the gang smashed into the department store on the evening of June 6, 2013. Ritchie Graham, Vincent Bellamy, Kris Monaghan and Ian Rawlings were all convicted of conspiracy to commit robbery at the Selfridges Wonder Room, and were sentenced at Kingston Crown Court to between 10 and 15 years imprisonment.
Monaghan and Rawlings both pleaded guilty to the offenses. Two other members of the gang, Connor Groake and Sam Curtin, had both previously pleaded guilty to conspiracy to rob at Selfridges, and were sentenced to eight years and 13 years imprisonment, respectively. The jury could not reach a decision on the charge of conspiracy to commit robbery at Selfridges in the case of Ramela Gordon, and a retrial will take place Feb. 15.
In addition, Graham was found guilty of conspiracy to rob Robert Gatward Ltd., a jeweler in Windsor, just outside London, and sentenced to 12 years in prison for that robbery, which took place April 12, 2013. That sentence will run concurrently with the Selfridges sentence. Curtin had pleaded guilty to the Windsor robbery and was sentenced to eight years for that offense, also to run concurrently with the Selfridges sentence.
