DANCE CLASS: Tuesday night’s workshop benefit for the School of American Ballet drew a bevy of long-term supporters of the program to Lincoln Center, with guests like Julia Koch and James and Kedakai Lipton slipping past proud parents clutching long-stem roses in the lobby and heading into the rear of Alice Tully hall for pre-performance cocktails. It was a far cry from the crowd who turned out in the same space a night earlier for the CFDA Awards, though Lady Gaga’s spiked undergarments provided similar intrigue, even 24 hours later. “I don’t think she’s a bad influence,” Jill Kargman (on hand with husband Harry and daughter Sadie) said of the pop star. “A lot of the things she stands for, like self-acceptance and all that, I really do believe in…which is not to say I’d wear that spiked thing?” Kargman’s parents, Ari and Coco Kopelman, were also present. Eve Rounds arrived with a few dancers from the Boston Ballet, “Sizing up the competition,” Rounds joked. One of the benefit’s chairs, Paige Bluhdorn, circulated with daughters Anna and Audrey, the pair bounded over to the youngest Kargman immediately to conspire over miniature grilled cheeses. The performance was followed by a seated dinner and later dancing in the SAB studios, which had been transformed into dining rooms for the evening.
