SAVILE SAVVY: “I think Lee would have approved,” said Annabelle Neilson, a friend and muse of the late Lee Alexander McQueen at the party to mark the opening of Alexander McQueen’s men’s wear shop at 9 Savile Row in London. “I think he would have said ‘Well done, Sarah [Burton, McQueen’s creative director],’ if he was here tonight. It’s a beautiful shop; I’m going to bring all my boyfriends here. And he would have loved seeing that photo by the door. He loved that photo.”

Neilson was referring to the David Bailey portrait of McQueen, leaping merrily in a kilt and sporran, that hangs at the entrance to the store.

Guests including Allen Leech of “Downton Abbey,” Dominic Cooper, Luke Evans, Friendly Fires’ Ed Macfarlane, Kristen McMenamy and Darwin Shaw partook of a stand-up feast of mini sausage rolls and Lincolnshire poacher rarebit canapés, martinis, and other cocktails with an English bent.
