“Saks has been part of French fashion for 85 years,” Saks chief executive Steve Sadove declared as he welcomed designers and executives galore to the U.S. Ambassador’s residence Saturday night for a Paris Fashion Week cocktail co-hosted by Arthur Salzberg of the New York Times. Alber Elbaz, Giambattista Valli, Silvia Fendi, Peter Copping and Pierre Hardy were among the fashion folk who turned up to ogle the gilded rooms and pristine gardens. London-based designer Erdem Moralioglu had a sprig of tiny purple flowers in his lapel. “I picked them in the Tuileries on the way over,” he confessed.
