Safilo Appoints Massimo Renon

Italian luxury eyewear producer and distributor has appointed Renon head of business for Europe, the Middle East and Africa.

EYE GUY: Italian luxury eyewear producer and distributor Safilo Group has appointed Massimo Renon head of business for Europe, the Middle East and Africa.

Renon, who will assume his new role in September, joins Safilo from Ferrari, where he was global head of sales and after sales. He had also previously spent over a decade working for rival eyewear company Luxottica. At Safilo, Renon will report directly to Roberto Vedovotto, the company’s chief executive officer.

“With a turnover of about 460 million euros [$565 million at current exchange], the EMEA region is at the heart of Safilo’s global presence in the markets,” stated Vedovotto. “The competitive scenarios and growth challenges that characterize this huge area of potential consumers have led us to join forces with Massimo for a path of future growth, which, thanks to his personal and professional background, will certainly be a great success.”

In addition to its own brands, which include Carrera and Safilo, the firm produces collections forbrands including Dior, Gucci, Marc Jacobs, Valentino and Yves Saint Laurent, to name a few.
