RUGBY REBORN: Ralph Lauren Corp.’s Denim & Supply is getting ready to open its first U.S. store this spring, but the company didn’t get the opportunity to break the news. That’s because D&S signage went up on the unit on University Place in New York that the company is in the process of converting from its prior existence as a Rugby store, and the news promptly leaked onto the blogosphere. A spokesman at RL confirmed plans for the conversion but provided no further details on what could be a U.S. rollout of the concept, which already has been tested with a limited number of stores in Europe and Asia. Ralph Lauren Corp. disclosed plans to shutter Rugby in November.
