RUCCI SITS ONE OUT: Ralph Rucci has had a change of heart and will not stage his Feb. 12 runway show at Lincoln Center as planned. The designer has decided to have private showroom appointments for his Chado Ralph Rucci collection. The fact that his 8 p.m. time slot on Feb. 12 would have pitted him against Tommy Hilfiger was not a factor, according to his sister and communications director Rosina Rucci.
“Tommy’s audience is decidedly not ours,” she wrote in an e-mail Wednesday. “And cost is always a factor but [that] was not the driving force behind this decision.”
Many of the familiar faces that take in Rucci’s show each season are expected at the Feb. 8 premiere of “A Quiet American: Ralph Rucci & Paris.” Deeda Blair, Carmen Dell’Orefice and Sandra Bernhard will be at the screening at the Academy Theater at Lighthouse International. There are also some fashion types in the documentary including Lee Radziwill, Didier Grumbach, Francisco Costa, François Lesage and James Galanos.
