Royals Celebrate Easter in Australia

Cambridges attend service at St Andrews Cathedral and tour Sydney’s Taronga Zoo.

Prince George spent his first Easter Sunday not acquainting himself with the Easter Bunny — but a Bilby named George. The Prince’s first official Australian engagement was a tour of Sydney’s Taronga Zoo, where the newly-opened Bilby enclosure is also being named in his honor. Wearing a blue and white striped polo shirt from British childrenswear brand Rachel Riley over French blue Rachel Riley shorts, navy soft shoes and socks, George was clearly delighted with his up-close-and-personal encounter with the rabbit-like Australian native marsupial, which is an endangered species.

The Duchess of Cambridge wore a primrose yellow short-sleeved broderie anglaise sundress, designed by an unnamed dressmaker in Honiara, the capital city of the Solomon Islands — which she had first worn during the Cambridges’ Diamond Jubilee Tour of the region in 2012 — paired with Stuart Weitzman’s cork wedges with plaited tan leather straps. Prince William wore a blue and white checked shirt and navy chinos.

Earlier in the day the couple attended an Easter Sunday service at St Andrews Cathedral, Kate wearing a dove grey Alexander McQueen coat over a matching pencil skirt, with a grey Jane Taylor headpiece, L.K. Bennett’s taupe suede pumps and an Alexander McQueen clutch.

On Saturday, sans George, the royal couple spent the day in Brisbane meeting with service families at the Royal Australian Air Force base in Amberley and attending a reception at the Brisbane Convention and Exhibition Centre. The Duchess wore L.K. Bennett’s blue and white poppy print dress with navy suede pumps and carried an indigo blue calf skin clutch purse from Australian brand Oroton. Back in Sydney later that night, they both dressed down in jeans and sweaters to catch a rugby union match between the NSW Waratahs and South Africa's Bulls.
