ROSE PARADE: Piaget was back on the red carpet as sponsor of the Hollywood premiere of Fox Searchlight’s “The East” (the film premiered in New York on May 20). The film’s star, cowriter and coproducer Brit Marling donned a Piaget Rose pendant with her Balenciaga pantsuit. The fine jewelry line, launched last September, has grown to include smaller, more wearable pieces like the white gold pendant set with 36 brilliant cut diamonds chosen by Marling’s stylist Elizabeth Stewart. The Swiss watch house first became aware of Marling through its support of independent film, namely its sponsorship of the Film Independent Spirit Awards, for which she received four nominations in the last two years. But the actress let her writing and producing partner, Zal Batmanglij, take the spotlight at the ArcLight theater premiere, where he said, “Brit and I first moved to L.A. when this theater opened, and going to see movies here, we never dreamed that we’d be having a premiere here. It’s just such a pleasure to go to work every day with my best friend, and this movie exists because of her.”
Afterward, the entire cast, including Alexander Skarsgård, Ellen Page and Patricia Clarkson, convened at Jonnie and Mark Houston’s hip hotel/speakeasy bar No Vacacy for the after party.
