Rolex Store Raided in London

Suspects smashed into the Knightsbridge store Wednesday and took "a number of watches," police said.

London — Yet another high-end London boutique has been hit by a smash and grab theft. This time, the target was the Rolex store on Knightsbridge.

A spokeswoman for London’s Metropolitan Police said that police were called to the store at 10.36 a.m. Wednesday, after suspects approached the store on three mopeds and a motorbike, before using a hammer and an axe to smash their way into the boutique. The suspects made off with “a number of watches,” the spokeswoman said, but she declined to disclose the value of the watches stolen.

Nobody was injured during the raid and no arrests have been made. Detectives from London’s Flying Squad, who investigate robberies at commercial premises, are currently investigating the incident. A representative for Rolex could not be reached for comment at press time.

The Knightsbridge incident is the latest in a spate of similar crimes in London, including a smash and grab raid on Valentino in Sloane Street earlier this month, a burglary at Moynat on Mount Street in June and the theft of 26 bags at Chanel in Brompton Cross in April.
