Rodarte, the Movie... More at the Store for Vera Wang... Expected in Paris...

Rodarte designers Kate and Laura Mulleavy are film buffs, sharing a particular love for the horror genre.

TALE OF TWO SISTERS: Rodarte designers Kate and Laura Mulleavy are film buffs, sharing a particular love for the horror genre, from “The Texas Chainsaw Massacre” to “Dawn of the Dead” and “Hellraiser.” Now a movie of their own could be in the cards: William Morris Endeavor Entertainment has signed on Rodarte. The Beverly Hills-based talent agency plans to “advise the label on opportunities in publishing and film and identify potential strategic partnerships and sponsorships,” according to a WME statement.

Black Frame, which has worked with Rodarte since 2005, will continue to do the brand’s global communications and marketing.


MORE AT THE STORE: After scaling back for fall 2009 in response to the recession — including a move from Bryant Park to her Mercer Street store for her runway show — Vera Wang was hoping to return to the large tent at Bryant Park this season. Yet by the time she made the decision, it was too late. “We approached IMG about going back in the tents for the September show at the end of July,” a Wang spokesperson said. “At that time, there was no availability that would work for us.” Wang said she was disappointed because “we really want to support the American fashion industry” and because “it’s important to maintain our presence.” However, Wang does expect to show in the tents next season — and to sign up early.


FIRST AND LAST: John Galliano — one of fashion’s ultimate showmen — will close Paris Fashion Week on Oct. 7. A temporary version of the calendar was released by the Chambre Syndicale on Monday with Galliano slated for an 8 p.m. show at Halle Freyssinet, right after Hermès in the same venue. Lanvin, by contrast, has moved earlier, slated to show on Oct. 2, the same day as Christian Dior. The Paris shows start Wednesday, Sept. 30.



KORS DELIGHT: Michael Kors will be a man of many facets on Fashion’s Night Out. At 5 p.m., he will kick off his night at Macy’s in Queens, where he will sign Fashion’s Night Out T-shirts with Anna Wintour, Terry Lundgren and Mayor Michael Bloomberg. He will then zip back to Manhattan to pick up Debra Messing at 7:45, and together they will head to Macy’s Herald Square to launch his new Very Hollywood fragrance. At 8:45, he and Messing will head down to his SoHo boutique. Billy Norwich, who is spending the evening there sketching Kors customers, will meet the duo there, and the night will culminate with a sketch-off between the designer and writer.



NARCISO’S HONOR: Narciso Rodriguez, who returned to Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week last February after showing off-site for several years, will now get the sponsorship of Mercedes-Benz itself this time around. Rodriguez will be the recipient of this fashion week’s “Mercedes-Benz Presents” honor, singling out his Sept. 15 show at Bryant Park. Rodriguez follows in the footsteps of past recipients like Yigal Azrouël, Badgley Mischka, Chado Ralph Rucci and Monique Lhuillier, Fashion critics should note though — Rodriguez’s spring collection wasn’t inspired by the car industry. The designer cited the sculptures of Barbara Hepworth as his main influence. “The three-dimensional and graphic shapes that are her work became a constant source of inspiration while I sketched and created the coming season,” he said.



FAVORABLE CONDITIONS: Al Roker may parlay his status as a nationally known weatherman into an eponymous line of apparel. The “Today” show personality is in talks with coat maker Weatherproof to create a line tentatively called Weatherman, the Al Roker Collection. The line, slated to launch fall 2010, would include rain jackets, coats, footwear and cold weather accessories. The collaboration, which would target mass market stores or national chains, marks the renewed partnership between Weatherproof and Roker, who has served as the company’s spokesperson in past ad campaigns.
