ECO INITIATIVE: Renzo Rosso is going green. The Diesel chief has invested 1 million euros, or $1.3 million at current exchange rate, in Italy-based Estrima, which produces leading Italian electric vehicle Birò. Rosso acquired 30 percent of the automotive company through his private investment holding Red Circle Srl.

“The new generations pay close attention to and genuinely care about the environment and a sustainable quality of life,” said Rosso’s son Stafano Rosso, who will sit on Estrima’s board. “From this perspective, Red Circle’s investment in Estrima is the expression of our contribution to this cause. In addition, we have been impressed by this innovative idea and this project created by Matteo [Maestri, founder of Estrima,] who transmitted his energy to us. That’s why we decided to invest in this small yet excellent company operating in our territory.”

Red Circle Srl also holds minority stakes in e-tailer Yoox and in H-Farm, an Italian Silicon Valley-esque company that provides funds and resources to Internet start-ups.
