(RED) SEE AT BERGDORF’S: Sotheby’s has secured some prime midtown real estate to unveil highlights for its upcoming (RED) charity auction with Bono. A Russian Zvezda Cosmonaut Suit, Damien Hirst spin chairs, two Castiglioni lamps, a Snoopy lamp and a George Lucas-signed Storm Trooper helmet will be among 16 items to be displayed in the windows of Bergdorf Goodman’s men’s store. The loot was culled by Marc Newson and Apple’s Jony Ive, who spent 18 months curating the collection. They collaborated with Bono to help organize the auction. Newson and Ive also created two exclusives pieces — a Leica digital rangefinder camera and an aluminum desk produced by Neal Feay Studio. The Bergdorf windows will be up through Nov. 11.

Proceeds from the Nov. 23 sale at Sotheby’s New York will benefit The Global Fund to fight AIDS, Tuberculosis and Malaria. Lensman and filmmaker Andrew Zuckerman shot 40-plus pieces for the limited-edition auction catalogue which was designed by award-winning illustrator Richard Allan.

Actor, author and poet Stephen Fry and Bono pitched in with essays, and Ive and Newson offered some commentary as well.
