TAKE ONE: Rech Paris is making its Paris Fashion Week debut.
Designed by artistic director Richard René, the new label’s spring 2013 line is being presented to buyers and journalists in Georges Rech’s showroom at 21 Rue de Berri in Paris’ 8th arrondissement through Oct. 5.
“This is a new collection that is more couture than our main brand [contemporary label Georges Rech], with handmade embroideries. It is meant primarily for international markets,” explained Georges Rech general manager Dominique Hazan.
René formerly ran his own signature line and worked at Hermès and Jean Paul Gaultier. In 2004, he won the Grand Price at the Hyères International Festival of Fashion and Photography.
“René is set to become artistic director for the group down the road,” said Hazan.
The first Rech Paris runway show is scheduled for March in Paris.
The brand targets multibrand and department store distribution, and its premier freestanding boutique is expected to open by the end of 2013, according to Hazan.
