READY FOR TAKEOFF: Swarovski is set to mark the launch of the newly established Swarovski Foundation at the Venice Biennale, opening June 1.
The company will take part in the art exhibition “Perspectives,” an installation by British designer John Pawson displayed at Venice’s Basilica di San Giorgio Maggiore. “With our design and architecture commissions such as this one, we strive to champion new and innovative approaches to design and technology involving crystal, as well as providing important experimental platforms for leading figures in design to conceptualize, develop and share their most innovative ideas,” said Nadja Swarovski, member of the Swarovski board.
The neoclassical Basilica di San Giorgio Maggiore will be the first institution to benefit from a donation made by the Swarovski Foundation, which will finance the restoration of the statue of San Giorgio located on the facade.
