Raoul Taps Raphael Young for Collection

This marks the first such collaboration between the F J Benjamin Group fashion brand and the footwear and accessory designer.

YOUNG COLLABORATION: Raoul, the Singapore-based label, tapped Paris-based Raphael Young to design shoes and handbags for pre-fall 2014. This marks the first such collaboration between the F J Benjamin Group fashion brand and the footwear and accessory designer, whose creations have been worn by Beyoncé, Lady Gaga and Rihanna.

“Accessories have in recent years become an important and growing part of Raoul’s business,” said Raoul co-creative director Douglas Benjamin, who also serves as chief operating officer of F J Benjamin Group. “Our decision to sign up Raphael shows our commitment to invest in this business and to offer our customers the ideal choice of accessories to complete the Raoul look or to create individual styles as desired.”

Young was born in South Korea but raised by his adoptive family in France, where his interest in footwear was sparked by his bootmaker uncle Alexandre Narcy, who was instrumental in launching the Yves Saint Laurent Shoe Studio in the Sixties. Young was drawn to Raoul, particularly its heritage. “Raoul exemplifies the coming of age of the Asian fashion brand,” he said.
