RAFE’S MUSES: Designer Rafe Totengco has created an exclusive collection of handbags inspired by a gaggle of muses, who include Marie Claire’s Brynn Poulos, Travel & Leisure’s Mimi Lombardo, reality star-turned-designer Whitney Port, blogger Lindsey Calla and stylist Anna Caruso.

The bags are not for sale, but are for charity, according to the designer, who estimated the retail value of each piece at $500.

Each bag is made from a variety of materials such as wool tweed, snakeskin, leopard print haircalf and leather, and is emblazoned with a New York-inspired quote by one of the muses. The bags also include a New York Fashion Week Survival kit pouch designed by Rafe that will be filled with essential items.

“New York is a constant source of inspiration for me,” the designer said. “When people ask me what I love about New York the most I reply, ‘I met me in New York.’ Everyone I know has moved here to follow their dream. Everybody has something to say about New York. I asked some fabulous women to share their quotes with me and I in turn collaborated with them tocustom make a bag for them. The bags celebrate these women, their individuality and their love for the city.”

Rafe said he would gift each muse her own signature bag, and auction off a second set of the bags on CharityBuzz in mid-February. The proceeds of the auction will go to the Breast Cancer Research Foundation.
